The weather is warming up, which means you’ll be using your outdoor kitchen more than ever in the coming weeks and months. Take some time now to ensure yours is ready for this season with the tips below.

Inspect and Clean

Outdoor kitchens have to withstand a lot more wear and tear than your indoor kitchen because of their exposure to the elements. If it’s been a while since you used your outdoor kitchen, you’ll want to get out there and give everything a good, deep cleaning and inspect everything for any issues. You’ll want to degrease your grill with a degreaser specifically designed for grills, wipe/dust off all surfaces, polish any stainless-steel appliances, give your outdoor sink a good scrub, and clean out the inside, outside, and coils of your outdoor fridge. It’s also a good idea to blow off or sweep the entire area, taking extra care around the bottoms of your appliances. While you’re cleaning, take some time to inspect major appliances like grills, refrigerators, etc. for any signs of wear or malfunctions.

Restock Supplies

If you weren’t grilling very much during the winter months, chances are, you are low on key supplies. Take some time now to inventory things like propane, charcoal, and any special spices or sauces you like to use when grilling. You can also check grilling utensils, tools, and brushes to see if any of them may need to be replaced this season.

Invest in Covers

If you haven’t already, it’s time to invest in good, quality covers for all your outdoor appliances, including your grill. These really help to protect your costly outdoor appliances from rain and UV rays in the coming months. If you already have covers, take some time to clean and inspect them to ensure they’re in tip top shape.

Refresh the Space

You want your outdoor kitchen and patio or deck space to be an oasis, and while cleaning the space makes a big difference in how it feels and looks, take some time to decide whether anything else in the space needs cleaning or a refresh. For example, any outdoor fabrics (pillows, cushion covers, etc.) may need a good wash or even replacing depending on the wear and tear. You can also take some time this spring to add in some new seasonal décor or plants to make the space feel even better.
