It’s easy to go a little stir crazy this time of year when cold weather and shorter days have been keeping us cooped up inside for what feels like months. The good news is, spring will be here before we know it, and in the meantime, there are several projects you can tackle around your home to help keep you busy until then and brighten and refresh your space.

Bring in Some Color

If you’ve been thinking about painting a room (or a few) in your home, now is the perfect time to do it! You have more inside time to get it done and the new color will really make that room or rooms feel new and refreshed.

Add Some Greenery or Flowers

One of the things a lot of us miss this time of year are the plants outside. Many of our trees still look dead and bare, our grass isn’t looking it’s best, and there are few flowers blooming in our year. And while it might still be too early to do anything about that outside, you can try to bring the feel of that spring freshness in with some cut flowers around your house or some new houseplants.

Let the Light In

If there was ever a time to replace those light fixtures and light bulbs, it’s now. All the dark winter days can suck the life out of you, but adding in light can help. Cleaning your windows and swapping out curtains to let more light in from outside when you can is also a good idea.

Declutter

Sometimes clutter in our home can make it feel smaller and closed in, and when we’re already struggling with feeling cooped up in a space, that doesn’t help. Get a jump start on spring cleaning by taking some time now to declutter your space. You’ll be surprised how big of a difference it can make.

Rearrange

We tend to spend a lot more time in side in the winter, and our regular setups can start to feel a little old and tired. Change things up by rearranging a key room like your living room or bedroom or even just swapping out some décor or textiles from one room to another.
