It’s important to thrive during the holiday season, not just survive all the hustle and bustle this time of year. Take a deep breath, take time to practice self-care and focus on what is most important to you and your family as you plan your holiday activities.
Plan ahead. Make your meal and gift lists early, then shop ahead so that you have everything you need the week of the holiday. Avoid crowds and traffic by ordering things online or picking up locally in advance.
Make a budget and stick to it. It's easy to go overboard during the holiday season, but planning ahead of time and setting limits will ensure that the holidays are positive on all fronts. Buy and give what you can afford!
Ask for help! Enlist the whole family to prepare for meals and for visitors. Then set a timer for 30 minutes before the start time or arrival time and enjoy a few quiet minutes together reflecting on what the season is about or playing holiday music together instead of rushing until the last minute.
Avoid negative conversations and environments if you can, surrounding yourself with encouraging and positive thoughts and people.
Donate items you no longer need or want to make space for new gifts and to allow space to breathe in your home during the holidays.
Spend time outside by taking in fresh air and vitamin D! Spend time relaxing around the fire pit or go for a family walk throughout the holiday season.
Share your list. Take time in the early holiday season to make a wish list in the store – talk with our team to see what you may want or need for the future and share the list with your family and friends for gift ideas. Or, if possible, treat yourself to new appliances for Christmas, delivered in time to prepare the holiday meals.
